Some tips:
Any trade good will sell better depending on how far away you were from your destination when you bought it. Of course, specialty goods will always sell better, since they're rarer. You *can* lose money on some purchases if you sell it in a port, even if that port doesn't have that good available. This has only happened to me once, and I didn't lose too much on it, but I gained no Eloquence XP for making the trade.
Trading trend items will gain you double XP and silver from that item.
